The Games of the XXXI Olympiad will draw the world’s attention to Rio. But the familiar Olympic rings are also part of one of the world’s best known trademark, one whose intellectual property right the International Olympic Committee and the US Olympic Committee are staunchly defending . So everyone from local car dealers to Chinese knockoff manufacturers who are thinking about cashing in on Olympic trademarks may want to think twice.
